Cancellation Policy

This Cancellation Policy applies to eligible travel reservations made through TripContrastFares.com, operated by Trip Contrast LLC (“Trip Contrast Fares,” “we,” “us,” or “our”), an independent Online Travel Agency (“OTA”).

Trip Contrast Fares is not an airline. Airline tickets and related travel inventory offered through our platform may be sourced from airlines, authorized consolidators, airfare suppliers, wholesalers, Global Distribution Systems (“GDS”), and other authorized travel-distribution channels.

By completing a reservation through Trip Contrast Fares, you acknowledge that the cancellation, change and refund conditions applicable to your booking may be determined by the fare rules of the applicable airline and/or ticketing supplier in addition to this Cancellation Policy.

1. Cancellation Requests

Customers wishing to cancel a reservation should contact Trip Contrast Fares as soon as possible.

Submitting a cancellation request does not automatically mean that the booking is refundable.

Whether a reservation can be cancelled for a refund, credit or other consideration depends upon factors including:

• the applicable fare rules;
• airline rules;
• ticketing supplier or consolidator conditions;
• whether the ticket has already been issued;
• the time remaining before departure;
• whether any portion of the itinerary has been used;
• whether the passenger has become a no-show; and
• applicable consumer-protection laws.

We will communicate the applicable cancellation conditions available to us when processing a customer's request.

2. Refundable Fares

Where a fare is expressly identified as refundable, a customer may request cancellation subject to the specific rules and conditions applicable to that fare.

Airline, supplier or other applicable cancellation penalties may be deducted where permitted by the fare conditions and applicable law.

Purchasing a “refundable” fare does not necessarily mean that every separately purchased product or service associated with the reservation is refundable. Ancillary products and services may carry their own conditions.

3. Non-Refundable Fares

Many discounted, promotional, restricted, basic and other fare categories are sold on a non-refundable basis.

Where a fare is identified as non-refundable before purchase, a voluntary cancellation initiated by the passenger generally will not result in a refund of the ticket price unless otherwise permitted by:

• the applicable airline or supplier;
• the fare rules;
• an applicable waiver;
• or applicable law.

Depending upon the fare rules, the customer may instead be eligible for a future travel credit or other option, potentially subject to penalties, restrictions and expiration dates.

4. Special, Bulk, Private, Negotiated and Supplier-Restricted Fares

Trip Contrast Fares may periodically have access to special, bulk, private, negotiated, wholesale, consolidator or other supplier-restricted fares obtained through airfare suppliers, consolidators or other authorized travel-distribution channels.

These fares can provide pricing or availability different from standard published fares but may carry substantially more restrictive cancellation and refund conditions.

Certain such fares are supplied to Trip Contrast Fares on a non-cancellable and/or non-refundable basis for voluntary passenger cancellations. Where this applies, the restriction will be disclosed to the customer during the booking process and before payment is completed.

A booking may therefore be prominently identified at checkout as, for example:

“NON-REFUNDABLE / NON-CANCELLABLE”

or with equivalent wording describing the applicable restriction.

Customers should carefully review the fare conditions displayed on the billing/checkout page before authorizing payment.

By completing payment after such a restriction has been prominently disclosed, the customer acknowledges and accepts the applicable fare conditions.

For these fares, Trip Contrast Fares generally cannot provide a voluntary cancellation refund where the underlying airline, consolidator or airfare supplier does not permit one.

Nothing in this section limits or waives any refund right that cannot lawfully be waived, including any applicable rights arising from an airline cancellation, qualifying significant schedule change, or other circumstance in which a refund is required by applicable law.

5. Airline Cancellations and Significant Schedule Changes

A fare being described as “non-refundable” generally relates to a voluntary cancellation requested by the passenger.

Different rules may apply when the airline cancels the flight or makes a qualifying significant change to the itinerary.

For flights subject to U.S. Department of Transportation refund requirements, customers may have a right to a refund when an airline cancels or significantly changes a flight and the passenger does not accept the affected transportation, alternative transportation, travel credit, voucher or other offered alternative, as applicable under governing regulations.

Trip Contrast Fares will process applicable requests according to the circumstances of the reservation, the merchant-of-record arrangement, supplier procedures and applicable law.

6. Requests Made Within 24 Hours of Booking

Customers should not assume that every reservation made through Trip Contrast Fares automatically qualifies for the U.S. airline 24-hour cancellation rule.

The U.S. Department of Transportation's mandatory 24-hour reservation/refund requirement applicable to airlines does not itself apply in the same manner to tickets purchased through online travel agencies or other third-party ticket agents.

However, an individual reservation may qualify for a 24-hour cancellation/refund option because of the applicable airline, supplier, fare rule or a policy separately offered by Trip Contrast Fares.

Customers wishing to cancel shortly after purchase should contact us immediately so that we can determine the conditions applicable to their specific booking.

7. No-Shows

A passenger who fails to cancel before the applicable deadline and does not travel may be classified as a no-show by the airline.

No-show reservations are frequently non-refundable and may result in cancellation of remaining flight segments.

Any refund, credit or rebooking possibility following a no-show is determined by the applicable airline/supplier rules and applicable law.

Customers should therefore contact us before scheduled departure whenever possible if they will not be travelling.

8. Partially Used Tickets

Once any portion of an itinerary has been used, cancellation and refund rights may change substantially.

Any residual value, refund or credit for a partially used ticket is determined according to the applicable fare rules, airline/supplier requirements and applicable law.

9. Airline or Supplier Waivers

Airlines and suppliers may occasionally issue special waivers because of severe weather, operational disruptions, emergencies or other circumstances.

Where a waiver applies to a customer's booking, Trip Contrast Fares will endeavor to process an eligible cancellation or modification according to the conditions established by the applicable airline or supplier.

The existence of a disruption does not automatically mean that every booking qualifies for a waiver.

10. Cancellation Fees and Service Fees

Where permitted by applicable law, a cancellation or modification may be subject to:

• airline penalties;
• supplier/consolidator penalties;
• fare differences;
• applicable Trip Contrast Fares service or processing fees; and
• other charges disclosed in connection with the applicable service.

Any applicable Trip Contrast Fares fees are separate from airline or supplier charges and should be disclosed in accordance with our applicable fee policies and the customer's booking terms.

Where applicable law requires a particular amount to be refunded, this policy will be applied consistently with that requirement.

11. Refund Processing

Where a refund is due, its processing depends upon factors including the merchant of record, airline/supplier procedures, original payment method and applicable legal requirements.

Where Trip Contrast Fares is responsible as merchant of record for issuing a refund required under applicable U.S. law, the refund will be handled within the timeframe required by applicable law.

Where another entity is responsible for processing the refund, Trip Contrast Fares may assist with the request, but the processing mechanics may depend upon that airline, consolidator, supplier or payment entity.

Refunds required by applicable law will be returned using the method required by that law.

12. Travel Credits and Vouchers

Depending upon the applicable fare rules, a customer cancelling a non-refundable ticket may qualify for an airline credit or voucher rather than a cash refund.

Credits and vouchers may be subject to:

• expiration dates;
• passenger-name restrictions;
• airline-specific use requirements;
• route restrictions;
• fare differences;
• rebooking requirements; and
• other supplier conditions.

Acceptance of a credit or voucher may affect a customer's ability to subsequently request a cash refund in circumstances where a cash refund would otherwise have been available. Customers should therefore review the applicable terms before accepting an alternative to a refund.

13. Customer Responsibility Before Payment

Before completing a booking, customers are responsible for reviewing the fare conditions presented during the booking and checkout process.

We particularly encourage customers to verify whether the selected fare is:

Refundable | Non-Refundable | Changeable | Non-Changeable | Non-Cancellable | Restricted

Where special restrictions apply, including restrictions associated with bulk or supplier-negotiated fares, they will be presented during the booking/checkout process as applicable.

Customers should not complete payment if they do not understand or accept the displayed cancellation conditions.

14. Relationship With Other Policies

This Cancellation Policy should be read together with our:

• Terms and Conditions;
• Refund Policy;
• Post-Ticketing Fee Policy;
• applicable fare rules; and
• any booking-specific conditions disclosed before purchase.

If a booking-specific fare condition is more restrictive than this general policy, the booking-specific condition will apply to the extent permitted by law.

Nothing contained in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict or waive a consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or waived.
